City Tour of Sydney

After a full and sumptuous Australian breakfast at the Hotel's Pei Modern bistro, you'll board your luxury motor coach for a six hour tour of Sydney's sites. The tour will include a visit to Mrs. Macquarie's Chair, the sandstone rock cut into the shape of a bench by convicts in 1810 for then Governor Macquarie's wife, Elizabeth. You'll see Bondi Beach, one of the most visited tourist sites in Australia, and visit South Head at the mouth of Sydney Harbour. South Head, known for its sheer ocean cliffs and military history, offers picture-perfect views that you won't soon forget. The gap features an unbeatable lookout where you can climb to the top to gaze out over the Tasman Sea and Sydney Harbour. Check out 19th century gun emplacements and the whimsical-looking Hornby Lighthouse.

Sydney Opera House Guided Tour

Late morning we'll arrive for our VIP tour of the world renowned Sydney Opera House, recognized for its unique shape and fantastic location in the city's harbour. The Opera House covers almost 4.5 acres and underneath its ten spectacular roofs of varying planes and textures lies a complex maze of more than 1,000 rooms of all shapes and sizes. It is a work of art that came into existence against impossible odds. A video presentation will detail the history and construction of this remarkable icon. The one hour walking tour with a guide and headsets will allow you to clearly hear the commentary and video presentations about this amazing structure. We'll also enjoy an Al Fresco lunch on the terrace before boarding our motor coach to continue our tour.

The Parliament of New South Wales

After lunch, we'll visit The Parliament of New South Wales, Australia's first and oldest Parliament, a site of great heritage significance. Its complex of buildings include the oldest building surviving in the Sydney central business district. Now part of the Parliament complex, you will see The Rum Hospital, completed in 1816. Sydney was founded as a convict colony by the British in 1788, with convict labor being the main source of public building. But when Governor Lachlan Macquarie arrived in the colony in the early 1800s and found no permanent hospital, he commissioned Sydney's first permanent hospital to be built through the importation and sales of 60,000 gallons of rum, thus the unusual name. Parliament House has a significant artwork collection, and the Parliamentary Library, established in 1840, has an important collection of historic books and the Parliamentary Archives. Following our visit to Parliament House, you will arrive back at the Four Seasons for a few hours of free time, to relax or explore the area.

Private Dinner with 28th Prime Minister of Australia

In the early evening, you will be transferred to the Customs House for our *private dinner with the 28th Prime Minister of Australia Tony Abbott, hosted by Young America's Foundation. As the leader of Australia, Tony Abbott, was responsible for expanding free trade, reducing regulations and taxes, and tackling a budget deficit. We are pleased to have the opportunity to learn from his successes. (*Note: This dinner is included with your YAF cruise package, and available to all YAF cruisers, not only as part of the pre-cruise tour.)

Featherdale Wildlife Park

After breakfast at Pei Modern and checking out of the hotel, you'll board your luxury motor coach for a short trip to Featherdale Wildlife Park, Sydney's ultimate hands-on wildlife experience. Located just 40 minutes west of the Sydney business district, Featherdale offers guests the opportunity to view and interact with more than 1,700 creatures. In addition to morning tea at the park, our private tour with a zoo keeper will give you the chance to hand-feed a Kangaroo, enjoy the sights and sounds of one of Australia's largest collections of native species, and cuddle up to a Koala in a private koala encounter, where you'll get to meet Featherdale's superstar resident, Archer the Koala. Archer's mother could no longer care for him, so he was hand-raised by Featherdale's loving keepers, and now he has captured the hearts of his "parents" and fans from across the world. After your morning visit to this wonderful park, you will transfer to the six-star Crystal Symphony to begin your YAF cruise adventure.
