Don Phillips is managing director of Morningstar, Inc., where he is responsible for formulating corporate strategy, research, communications, and the Morningstar Indexes. He joined Morningstar in 1986 as the company's first mutual fund analyst and soon became editor of the company's flagship publication, Morningstar Mutual FundsTM, establishing the editorial voice for which the company is best known. Mr. Phillips helped develop the Morningstar Style BoxMorningstar Ratingand other distinctive and proprietary Morningstar innovations that have become industry standards. Both Financial Planning and Investment Advisor magazines have included him on their lists of the most influential people in the financial planning industry. Registered Rep has named Mr. Phillips one of the investment industry's ten key players, and he was selected twice as a member of the Ultimate Investment Club by Money. He has appeared on CNN, CNBC, Nightly Business Report, and Wall $treet Week With Louis Rukeyser and is regularly sought for insight on stories in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Forbes, Money, and numerous others. Mr. Phillips has a Bachelor's degree from the University of Texas and a Master's degree from the University of Chicago.
