Scott Kessler is a senior director and equity analyst on Standard & Poor's US equity research team. Mr. Kessler oversees Standard & Poor's equity research regarding the information technology sector, which consists of over 250 stocks. Since March 2000, he has personally covered Internet sub-industries that include bellwethers eBay, Google, and Yahoo. Mr. Kessler is the author of the bi-annual industry survey entitled, Computers: Consumers Services & the Internet. In 2003, The Wall Street Journal recognized him as the "top analyst covering general industrial services" for his work on data-processing technology stocks in its Best on the Street Analyst Survey. Mr. Kessler is regularly relied upon as an expert by the media including Barron's, Bloomberg Radio and TV, CNBC, CNN, The Financial Times, Investor's Business Daily, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal, as well as numerous local US periodicals and international outlets. Prior to becoming an equity analyst, he worked as a legislative fellow to the vice chairman of the House Telecommunications and Finance Subcommittee handling issues related to technology and telecommunications. Thereafter, Mr. Kessler worked as a telecommunications attorney for a private law firm in Washington, DC, representing clients such as SBC Communications, Time Warner, and the Walt Disney Company. He graduated from Brandeis University in 1992 and received a law degree from Washington University in Saint Louis in 1995.
