Speaker Biography:
Charles Edouard de Lardemelle is a founding partner of International Value Advisers, LLC and serves as the firm's co-portfolio manager responsible for all investment decisions. Until September 2007, he was a senior vice president of Arnhold and S. Bleichroeder Advisers, LLC (ASB) and the associate portfolio manager of the First Eagle Global, Overseas, and US Value Funds as well as a variety of separate accounts and offshore funds with a total of $38 billion in assets under management. From 2005 to 2007, Mr. de Lardemelle was a director of research at ASB, responsible for hiring, training, and supervising a team of eight analysts. From 1996 to 2005, he was a securities analyst for the First Eagle Funds and its predecessors, the SoGen Funds. As an analyst, Mr. de Lardemelle was responsible for covering a number of industries globally, including services, transportation, hotels, technology, and capital goods. Over the years, he was involved in private placements, bankruptcy reorganizations, exercising dissenters', rights regarding proposed takeovers, and public-to-private transactions. Mr. de Lardemelle earned a post graduate degree at EDHEC, a leading French business school and holds the CFA designation.
