Obama, Stocks, Spending, Congress, and the Economy—What Happens Now to Your Portfolio?

Any hope long-term for killing the death tax? Unions will be making their biggest power grab in decades—can they be stopped? How steep will President Obama’s learning curve be on the international front?

Sell in May and Then
Go Away

It’s an old saying, but this Wall Street adage is as relevant today as when it was first uttered, as it worked again during the bear market of 2008. In his newest book, The Seven Rules of Wall Street, Sam Stovall presents seven familiar sayings, or rules of thumb, that not only convey enduring truths but also serve as superb investment strategies. Mr. Stovall will explain a few of these rules, and teach you how to develop your own portfolios that leverage these old sayings.
LINDA RASCHKE
President, LBR Group
Quantifying Market Structure and Finding the Sweet Spot
Linda Raschke will first lay out a basic foundation for defining market structure by quantifying the patterns formed by the swings. Next she will show the two most important patterns to look for in this structure. They pinpoint the “sweet spot” in the data. At these specific points, the odds favor taking a trade and playing for a big target. Any other buy or sell pattern formed by the swings tests out best playing for a small target. Lastly, she will show the importance of the “sideways line” and how to trade and manage breakouts from these areas. These important building blocks of market structure will give you the tools to analyze any market instantly and put price in a context.
