On the Brink of a New Bull Market?
S&P economists believe that the worst of the economic slowdown will be seen in 1Q09 and subsequent quarters should see less drag. With this in mind, are Asian equities on the brink of a new bull market? As at beginning January, the Asian markets rebounded by more than 30% on average from their end-October 2008 lows. Traditionally this would signify a new bull market, and if those lows hold, S&P Equity Research is expecting a decent recovery but there may be some clouds to watch out for that may diminish the hopes for a strong end to 2009.
