Speaker Biography:
John Authers is the investment editor for Financial Times (FT) magazine. He was previously the US Markets editor, as well as the Mexico City bureau chief, where he covered politics, economics, the financial system, and the culture of Mexico and Central America. Mr. Authers joined the staff of FT in 1990 and has served as a personal finance columnist, an education and local government correspondent, and a New York correspondent. He was named UTA National Journalist of the Year in 1992 for his work revealing the mis-selling of life insurance products in the UK. Subsequently, Mr. Authers was selected by BTEC as the National Newspaper Education Journalist of the Year. He was also awarded a Knight-Bagehot Fellowship in business and economic journalism from Columbia University in 1999 and won the Best of Knight-Bagehot Award for Outstanding Journalism in 2002. Mr. Authers is the co-author of The Victim's Fortune--Inside the Epic Battle Over the Debts of the Holocaust and was a researcher for Race for the Presidency 1988. He received an MBA from Columbia Business School and an MS from Columbia School of Journalism. Mr. Authers also received a BA in philosophy, politics, and economics from the University of Oxford.
