Consumer Staples Weaker

The conventional view is that in a recession, the consumer staples ETF (XLP) should perform better than the consumer discretionary sector ETF (XLY), but this has not been true recently. The charts show that the staples ETF (XLP) has retested the November 20th lows, while the discretionary sector remains well above its own November lows.
