Well, the market being defensive is not surprising. I’m trying a report from mid-flight on Delta’s KU(2) satellite system (the newer GoGo). It sort of works, although not well for streaming. Audio isn’t very clear, writes our roving Trader Gene Inger over the Atlantic.

In any event here’s the brief comment and later in the week is when we’ll get more notable economic news and of course the Apple (AAPL) product presentation and LightPath Technologies (LPTH) call.

Whoops..sorry the upload failed and cannot reconnect at the moment (actually turbulence starting) but it’s unessential since the market (SPX) is behaving in a neutral to defensive way.

Reuters: S&P, Nasdaq edge higher Monday on tax optimism despite Apple drag.

If I clear Customs efficiently I’ll try to do a Daily Briefing from JFK, if not I’ll do a pre-open comment early Tuesday.

Really great to be returning to the U.S. and thanks for bearing with the challenges I’ve had (more than expected in the modern age of broadband) during parts of the trip.

I also am eager to hear what LightPath has to say; besides Apple as well.

I found IFA a terrific technology show in Berlin, and glad to have shared glimpses of products that most won’t see until they are shown at CES in January.

I’ll share a couple more in my next report, as well as review LPTH and APPL during the coming week as well.

And yes, the inclusion of new sensors (passive & infrared) was evident in more areas, including robotics. Berlin takeaway is that industrial and surveillanceare bigger markets than realized; hence automotive is not the largest, when it comes to infrared use over time.
