About Gary

Gary Hovis has directed Argus' public utility investment research since 1986. Mr. Hovis' prior professional experience includes 17 years with a number of Wall Street firms, working in corporate finance, and conducting securities research in the gas transmission, electric & gas utility, and oil & gas production industries. In 2002, The Wall Street Journal Annual Analysts Survey cited Mr. Hovis as a 'Best on the Street' Utilities analyst. He also won the award in 2009 and 2012. Mr. Hovis holds a BA degree in mathematics from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri; an MBA in finance & accounting from Washington University (St. Louis); and a Master's degree in history from Oklahoma State University. Prior to his graduate studies, Mr. Hovis served as an officer in the US Army's Third Armored Division in Germany. He is a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts and the Wall Street Utility Group.
