Richard Kang is an independent risk and investment management consultant and has been active in both institutional and individual asset and risk management for over 12 years. Mr. Kang has extensive experience in multi-asset class mandates as well as strategies applying the use of passive instruments. In addition to running his firm, he was retained by a Funds of Funds (FOFs) for two years as its chief investment officer. In 2002, Mr. Kang co-founded an investment firm managing long only GAA mandates for private investors and short only "beta filtering" overlays for multi-strategy hedge funds/FOFs. Previously, he built and managed the investment management subsidiary of a private wealth firm. Mr. Kang spent six years with a Toronto-based investment firm that services institutional investors focused on various hedge fund strategies. He currently writes a blog, "The Beta Brief," at www.thebetabrief.com. Mr. Kang is a member of the Global Association of Risk Professionals, the Professional Risk Managers' International Association, and the Toronto CFA Society. He earned his Bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Waterloo.
