Eugene Smith is the director of the CFTC's Office of Proceedings, where he has worked since September 2016. Prior to serving as the director of the Office of Proceedings, he worked as a senior trial attorney with the CFTC's Division of Enforcement in Washington, D.C. since 2000, where he handled a wide variety matters including, complex fraud, market manipulation, and trade practice cases. From January 2016 through August 2016, Mr. Smith served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, where he prosecuted general crimes in the District of Columbia.
