The simple fact is that the market has been living off of free money and low interest rates since 2009, suggests Kelley Wright, editor of Investment Quality Trends.

At some point, when it is least expected – and my thought is that it won’t happen until some point in 2017 – the conventional wisdom will be turned on its head and this market will correct, and not by a little bit.

Most likely the market will wait for a new president and as a congratulatory gift for surviving the electoral process will hand him/her a steaming plate of something undesirable.

As a general rule, but at this time in particular, my thought is the best defense for investors is to insure your investment considerations are limited to the highest-quality companies with the cleanest balance sheets possible.

And, of course, you want to focus on stocks that offer good present value. The next time the tide goes out you don’t want to be caught swimming naked.

Our The Timely Ten portfolio represents our current top ten stocks recommendations. The ten stocks are:

American Express (AXP)
Eaton Vance (EV)
Franklin Resources (BEN)
Fluor Corp (FLR)
Trinity Industries (TRN)
T. Rowe Price (TROW)
Texas Instruments (TXN)
Cummins (CMI)
Int'l Business Machines (IBM)
Wal-Mart Stores (WMT)

It is our reasoned expectation based on our methodology and experience, that these ten undervalued stocks offer the greatest real total-return potential over the next five years.
