Harry Boxer list the best breakout opportunities based on price and volume from earlier this week.

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Company (HMHC) popped 45¢ (21%) to $2.62, just 12¢ off the session high of $2.74, on 15.6 million shares traded, which is good volume for this stock. It may be coming out of a wedge as well. If it gets up through resistance at $3.25, we’re looking at $4.50.

Eastman Kodak Company (KODK) was the best performer of the day Tuesday — thanks to a major contract from the government— exploding $5.32 (203%) to $7.94, with a session high of $11.80, on 263.5 million shares traded. It jumped again in after-hours trading to $12.75. That was a 5-point move in after-hours alone. Let’s see where it goes from here.

Turning Point Brands, Inc. (TPB), another marijuana-type stock, jumped $2.86 (9.4%) on Tuesday, to $33.24 on 660,840 shares traded. It popped and broke out across key resistance, and could extend into the high $30’s, low $40’s.

Xperi Holding Corporation (XPER), following a positive court ruling, extended 94¢ 5.6%) on Tuesday, to $17.85, with a session high of $18.84, on 3 million shares traded. It added an additional 34¢ in after-hours. Volume has come in, the breakaway gap is there, and this stock looks like it’s going to extend. My targets are $20 and $22 going forward.
