James Schultz

James Schultz has dedicated his entire professional career to finance. Dr. Schultz earned his BSBA and MBA, both in finance, from Central Michigan University in 2004 and 2005, respectively. He then earned his PhD in finance from The University of Memphis in 2009, where his research specialized in market microstructure. His work has been published in the Journal of International Finance and Economics, the International Journal of Economics and Business, the Journal of Case Studies, the International Research Journal of Applied Finance, and the International Journal of Commerce and Management. His work in 2013 earned him the Paper of the Year award at the Journal of Case Studies.Upon graduation, Dr. Schultz began teaching both undergraduate and graduate level classes at Winthrop University. In fall of the 2015, he had the opportunity of a lifetime to leave academia and join tastytrade, where he hosts his own show, From Theory to Practice, and co-hosts another show, Where Do I Start? Having traded stocks and derivatives himself since 2007, his goal with all of his content is to combine the theoretical understanding of the markets with the practical application in a portfolio.
