Rick Lake

Rick Lake is the founder of Narrative Alpha, a consultancy dedicated to thought leadership and growth for the alternative investment community. Rick has been an innovator in alternative investing and the democratization of alternatives with a career that spans decades. As co-founder of Lake Partners, a pioneering alternative investment consulting firm, he helped grow the company to over $5 billion of consulting and advisory assets. Rick was co-manager of the LASSOLong and Short Strategic Opportunitiesportfolio, one of the first daily liquid fund-of-funds strategies, available in multiple structures. The LASSO mutual fund achieved a nearly ten-year track record with a five-star peak Morningstar rating.Rick is a noted speaker, author, and educator on alternative investments, highlighted in a wide range of media, including Barron's, The Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, CNBC, and Bloomberg Television. He has been an invited presenter at conferences and universities across the US, including FA Inside Alternatives, the Morningstar Investment Conference, the MIT Sloan Investment Management Conference, the London Business School, and Yale, among others.Rick's writings include Private Equity and Venture Capital: A Practical Guide for Investors and Practitioners, a reference book published by Euromoney Institutional Investor, and The Democratization of Hedge Funds, a white paper presented as an invited speaker at the 2003 SEC Hedge Fund Roundtable.Rick also serves as Content and Investment Strategist for GK3 Capital, a leader in digital sales and marketing for alternative investment firms nationwide.
