John Carter is the founder and chairman of Simpler Trading and the author of Mastering the Trade. An active trader for the past 25+ years, his main focus is trading futures and options. Mr. Carter documented making over $12,000,000 (1000%+) trading TSLA options in 2020 on the long side - though most of the time he favors selling spreads on the SPX for income. In 2021 he sold Simpler Trading to a PE firm, buying it back at a discount in 2025.
He is the developer of the Squeeze Indicator, a tool for finding greater-than-expected market maker moves, which works especially well for trading options. Today he is focused on teaching his kids how to trade, feeding his zebras on his ranch in the Texas Hill Country, as well as sending out trading alerts to his clients.
