2015, was supposed to be the year that the United States finally emerged from its long recovery from the Great Recession of 2008. But a funny thing happened on the way to the recovery: it never occurred. After seven years of zero percent interest rates and trillions of dollars of quantitative easing, the economy was supposed to be strong enough to withstand positive rates of interest.
