About Lawrence

Lawrence McMillan speaks on option strategies at many seminars and colloquia in the US, Canada, and Europe. Prior to founding his own firm, he was a proprietary trader at two major brokerage firms—primarily Thomson McKinnon Securities, where he ran the equity arbitrage department for nine years. Mr. McMillan is perhaps best known as the author of Options as a Strategic Investment, the bestselling work on stock and index options strategies, which has sold over 200,000 copies.

Three different internal indicators have generated sell signals over the past week or so, but the most important indicator – the chart of S&P 500 Index (^SPX) – remains bullish. When these conditions exist, it is usually the chart of SPX that wins out, notes Lawrence McMillan, editor of Option Strategist.
The major indices are all enjoying a booming bull move to new all-time highs, including the S&P 500 Index (^SPX), Nasdaq-100 Index, and Russell 2000 Index. This display of strength has occurred in the face of potential geopolitical worries, which indicates that “the market” isn’t too concerned with those, advises Lawrence McMillan, editor of Option Strategist.
Several of the major indices have reached and held new all-time high ground recently. Pullbacks have been small, and it appears that there is still an appetite for buying, despite what might be worries from the Middle East. There is support for the S&P 500 Index (^SPX) at 7,000, the previous highs, suggests Lawrence McMillan, editor of Option Strategist.
Volatility continues to be elevated both in terms of realized and implied. The CBOE Volatility Index (^VIX) and the equity-only put-call ratios began to rise well in advance of the current market decline, and they are still advancing, explains Lawrence McMillan, editor of Option Strategist.
