Howard Simons is the president of Rosewood Trading, Inc., and a strategist for Bianco Research, and he has a broad and deep background in the financial markets. He was most recently the special academic advisor to NQLX, known formerly as Nasdaq Liffe Markets, where he directed the development of equity market derivatives. Mr. Simons simultaneously had been a clinical professor of finance at the Illinois Institute of Technology's Center for Law & Financial Markets, where he directed, at various times, the Center's fixed income, energy, and trading tracks. He is a regular contributor to Currency Trader and SFO magazines. Mr. Simons had formerly been a contributing editor of Futures magazine, wherein he published more than 100 articles since 1994. He writes the weekly "Futures Shock" column for TheStreet.com, on which he has published more than 300 articles. Mr. Simons is the author of The Dynamic Option Selection System: Analyzing Markets & Managing Risk (John Wiley & Sons, 1999). He began his career as an economist with the Amoco Corporation and then was the managing consultant for energy with Data Resources, Inc. Mr. Simons began designing econometric trading systems for crude oil traders and providing fundamental analyses for financial market traders. He returned to Amoco to design and run its hydrocarbon price risk management program before moving on to the commodity brokerage side of the industry as the director of research for FIMAT USA. Mr. Simons graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a BA in international relations, from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies an MA in international economics, and from the University of Chicago with an MBA in finance and econometrics.
